GAF Construction in Ontario, CA | Pinecrest Contractors
We provide independent GAF roof installation, repair, and replacement across Ontario, CA. Roof replacement on a single-story Ontario tract home typically runs $8,000 to $20,000 and takes three to five working days. The one thing that makes our GAF work here different: we check for clay-soil foundation movement and shifting roof-to-wall joints before we ever quote a shingle price, because Ontario’s soil moves and a roof that’s nailed to a moving structure will fail early no matter whose shingle sits on top. Call (855) 702-1622 for a free estimate.

Why Ontario Residents Choose Us for GAF Service
Gil Rourke, our owner, grew up off Murrieta Hot Springs Road and spent years managing residential and commercial builds across the Inland Empire before founding Pinecrest Contractors. When he walks an Ontario roof, he’s not just looking at shingle condition. He’s reading what the clay soil, the Santa Ana wind history, and the slab foundation have been doing to that roof for fifty years. Our team works on GAF systems every week across Ontario’s 91762, 91764, 91798, and 91758 ZIP codes, plus nearby GAF service in Montclair, so we carry the accessory inventory that keeps a job moving: GAF starter strip, ridge cap, cobra venting, and leak barriers in the sizes our local tear-offs actually use.
We’re an independent contractor, not a GAF-authorized or manufacturer-endorsed shop. That matters more than it sounds. When a dealer program pushes one assembly, you hear one answer. We recommend the GAF assembly that fits your specific roof, whether that’s Timberline HDZ on a 1962 stucco rancher or EverGuard TPO on a 1970s tilt-up warehouse.

Common GAF Construction Problems We Solve in Ontario
- Thermal-cycling granule loss on Timberline HDZ. Ontario summers push past 100°F for weeks, and south- and west-facing slopes bake hardest. If the attic was never vented properly, we see accelerated granule loss and sealant strip failure on otherwise mid-life Timberline roofs. The shingle isn’t defective. It’s starving for airflow. We correct the ventilation before we re-shingle, or the next roof dies the same early death.
- Wind-lifted tabs along hip and ridge edges. Santa Ana events don’t damage GAF roofs uniformly. They find the edges where the original installer hand-nailed high, missed the nail line, or stapled the starter course. We’ll find creased tabs and lifted corners concentrated on the north and east ridge of a home, while the field looks untouched. That’s a nailing discipline problem, not a product problem.
- Original 3-tab Royal Sovereign roofs past service life. Tracts built in the 1950s and 1960s east of Euclid Avenue often still have their original 3-tab GAF roofs. The tabs have gone brittle from four decades of UV. They crack off at the eave. The felt underneath has lost its asphalt saturation. Patching this roof is throwing money at a roof that’s already told you it’s done.
- Deck and flashing movement from clay-soil shifting. Ontario’s clay-heavy soils swell in winter and shrink through summer. On slab homes, the perimeter edge can move enough to crack fascia and pull flashing away from the roof-to-wall joint. We see this on raised-foundation homes too, though slab homes show it sooner. Before we quote shingles, we walk the drip edge and look for separation.
- Ponding and seam failures on low-slope commercial roofs. Tilt-up warehouses and strip retail along Holt and Mission Boulevards often run GAF EverGuard TPO or older single-ply. Drains clog, water ponds, and seams open. The leak shows up as ceiling staining forty feet from the actual breach. We trace the membrane, not the stain.
GAF Service in Ontario: What Local Conditions Mean for Your Equipment
Here’s the piece most roofers miss in Ontario: the postwar tract homes east of Euclid Avenue were built on slab and raised foundations over expansive clay that swells and shrinks with the seasons. By the time a GAF re-roof is due, the roof-to-wall joints and fascia have often shifted. We check for deck and flashing movement before we quote shingles because a new GAF assembly nailed to a deck that’s pulling away from the wall will separate at the same joints the last roof did, which is why our GAF in Upland follows the same careful protocol. On a 1962 single-story stucco home off Holt Boulevard in the 91761 area, the original Royal Sovereign 3-tab roof had shed tabs across the west slope and the fascia had cracked where the clay soil had shifted the slab edge. Our crew pulled the old felt, sistered soft sheathing, corrected the drip edge and flashing at the shifted wall joint, and installed Timberline HDZ with GAF starter and ridge cap. We scheduled the tear-off for early morning because by 10 a.m. the July heat was already softening the new shingle sealant before it could set. Ontario’s construction economy splits between those tract re-roofs and the tilt-up commercial membrane work along the old industrial corridors. We do both, and they demand different skills, different materials, and different schedules.
GAF Models & Products We Service in Ontario
We install and repair the GAF assemblies that show up across Ontario’s housing and commercial stock, as well as GAF repair in Chino. Timberline HDZ is the dominant architectural shingle on 1950s through 1970s tract re-roofs, and for good reason: it carries the weight, performs under Inland Empire heat when ventilated correctly, and reads appropriately on a single-story stucco home. Timberline UHDZ goes on larger custom or two-story homes where the heavier shingle’s depth and shadow line make visual sense. Royal Sovereign 3-tab still appears on original roofs and budget rental properties; we service them when a repair makes sense, but we’ll be honest when it doesn’t. On tilt-up and low-slope commercial roofs, we work with EverGuard TPO single-ply membrane, including seam repair and full replacement. We spec GAF-manufactured accessories from the same system: starter strip, ridge cap, leak barrier, and underlayment. Mixing brands in an assembly voids the system integrity and gives the manufacturer a reason to deny a claim. We don’t do that to our customers.

AfterGAF Service Pricing in Ontario
Here’s what GAF roof work costs in Ontario’s market:
| Service | Price Range |
|---|---|
| Roof Replacement | $8,000 – $20,000 |
| Roof Repair | $400 – $1,800 |
| Tile Roof Repair | $600 – $2,500 |
| Metal Roof Installation | $15,000 – $40,000 |
Roof replacement cost moves with roof size, pitch, number of slopes, deck condition, and whether your Ontario home has one layer or two to tear off. A full tear-off on a 1,200-square-foot tract home with good decking lands on the lower end. A two-story cut-up roof with soft sheathing and shifted fascia lands higher. Your free written estimate includes the tear-off, deck inspection and any localized sheathing replacement, underlayment, the GAF shingle system with starter and ridge cap, flashing, haul-off, and the final clean-up. No allowances, no change-order games. Call (855) 702-1622 and we’ll walk the roof and give you a line-item number.

FAQs – GAF Construction in Ontario
If the original Royal Sovereign roof is brittle, shedding tabs, and the felt underneath is dry, it needs a full tear-off. Nailing new Timberline HDZ over failing 3-tab transfers all the problems to the new shingle. You’ll get a roof that looks new and fails early. In Ontario’s heat, the old shingles’ sealant strip has already let go; the new shingles end up strapped to a crumbling base. We tear it off, inspect the deck, and start clean. Call (855) 702-1622 for an exact quote – estimates are free.
It means we schedule tear-offs for early morning from June through September. By 10 a.m. in Ontario, the ambient temperature can exceed 100°F, and a shingle sealant strip needs time to bond before extreme heat softens it. A roof installed at 4 p.m. in August can get its sealant melted before the shingles settle. We start at dawn and finish by early afternoon on most tract homes.
Heat degrades. Santa Ana winds reveal. The winds don’t damage a properly nailed GAF roof. They damage the edges where the original installer hand-nailed improperly or stapled the starter course. We’ll see a roof with pristine field shingles and mangled ridge tabs after a wind event. The repair is targeted, but the diagnosis is specific to Ontario’s wind corridors, not a generic shingle-check.
Yes. GAF EverGuard TPO single-ply membrane is the product we install and repair on Ontario’s low-slope commercial roofs. We handle seam repairs, drain area fixes, and full membrane replacement. The leak often shows up far from the actual breach, so we trace the membrane and ponding patterns, not the ceiling stain. Call (855) 702-1622 for a commercial roof assessment.
We look at three things: the age of the existing shingles, the condition of the deck, and whether the damage is isolated to one slope or spread across the roof. A 15-year-old Timberline HDZ roof with one wind-lifted tab is a repair. A 40-year-old Royal Sovereign with soft sheathing and missing tabs across two slopes is a replacement. We’ll tell you what we’d do if it were our roof. That’s the whole answer. Call (855) 702-1622 for a free estimate and we’ll make the call together.
